Jericho أريحا – Oldest City in the World

Taita_Leila_hand_embroidered_vest_Jericho_1-min_1024x1024.jpg

Price: USD 250

This straight cut is reminiscent of the dresses found in the ancient city of Salt (close to Jericho in modern day Jordan), characterized by thin strips of embroidery but with double layers of cloth that fold under one another. The bright red monochromatic bird motif pops on this chic vest for a winning and dramatic combination.

Galilee الجليل – Coats in the North

Price: USD 250

A variety of different textiles have historically been sourced from the northern hills of Galilee, including the famous striped saya (also known as damascene silk) from neighboring Syria. One common feature is that women didn’t wear a dress but more of a coat, known as a jellayeh, with trousers underneath.

We designed a cape in a similar cut with incongruous patches of saya, still made in Syria to this day. Similar to the traditional style, the indigo cloth provides an elegant backdrop for the bright geometric patches of diamonds, triangles, and rectangles.
